Typically, I would think that “affectionate” is not the first term to come to mind when people think of bison, but I’ve witnessed quite a deal of affection between them, including between what first appear to be grumpy old bulls. These two gently rubbed their faces against one another, slowly and deliberately, in an act akin to how a pet might rub against its owner or companions.
