The wolf that came to feed on the carcass this day was obviously a bit anxious. Clearly a healthy animal, I saw it three times over three days, always alone. As a loner, it would occasionally stand and listen, watching carefully, seeing if any other predators were in the area; it had no intentions of running into bears or other wolves. In the still early light, this image is the wolf at its most regal, showing off animal’s deep yellow eyes set against the coat of back, chocolate and tan.
