The world’s most famous grizzly, #399, emerges from the forest during a trip to the Tetons. On this particular day I was not specifically out looking for bears, but a sudden commotion on the road at the opposite end of a field I was photographing in caught my eye. Catching a glimpse of movement in the trees, I waited to see what would come out. To my surprise, it was “the queen” herself, briefly looking directly at me before continuing on her way.
Long live the queen
