One of the advantages of spending as much time as I do out photographing wildlife is that I’ve learned the habits of several animals. This particular morning I was watching this wolf eat some remaining meat from a carcass before he left, heading towards a nearby river and canyon. Feeling like I had a good idea of where he would eventually reappear after crossing the river, I headed to a the opposite side of a nearby field and waited. About fifteen minutes later, there was the wolf, right on cue, fur still wet from the river crossing.
