On Thanksgiving day I decided to check on a bison carcass I had seen frozen in a creek weeks before, and I was not disappointed. Before the sun was even up I could see multiple large figures milling around the carcass; as the sun came up I could see that I was looking at a pack of eleven wolves. I spent the rest of the day watching this big family eat, play, argue, and nap – in some ways, a pretty typical Thanksgiving.
